Cramp, what is it?

Cramp is a sudden involuntary muscle contraction or overshortening.

Onset of cramp is usually sudden but will resolve on its own over a period of serval seconds, minutes or hours! Some cramps may occur because of muscle fatigue or lack of electrolytes such a sodium, potassium or magnesium.

There are many ways of treating cramp for example, making sure you are stretching enough, having regular massages on the muscles more prone to cramps, and drinking plenty of fluids.

Prevention is key!

When taking part in any physical activity make sure that you warm up thoroughly as well as making sure all muscles are stretched and warm. Lots of hydration and electrolyte balances all need to be taken into consideration when trying to prevent cramp!
